A joint statement is being prepared by esteemed organizations, urging governments to prioritize ocean health. The International Seabed Authority’s powers and existence are largely unknown, highlighting the need for awareness. Deep-sea mining threatens ecosystems responsible for climate regulation, outweighing short-term gains. The changing demands and potential irreversible consequences call for the preservation of biodiversity. The International Seabed Authority must reject applications until comprehensive regulations are established.
